About Kent Kim
Behind The Music
Kent Jeong-Eun Kim is a composer, musical director, piano accompanist and pianist based in New York City. Originally from South Korea, she studied classical piano performance at Hansei University and has performed throughout her native country in both classical and musical theatre genres. Kent came to New York city in 2015 to begin a Master of Fine Arts at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, in the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, the only one of its kind in the world. She graduated in 2017, having written a full-length musical called Out With a Bang. She is also the recipient of the CJ Cultural Foundation Artist Fund and the Wooran scholarship, which supported her private studies in Big Band orchestration, jazz piano, playwriting and composition during the summer of 2016. She is a frequent pianist in cabarets, recitals and musical theatre here in New York City. Performance highlights include Icon with Broadway legend Donna McKechnie, Love in Stop Motion at the Duplex, and My First One Night Stand at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre. She has also worked as an accompanist in the world of choral music, which included recording an album with the Wonju Chamber Choir (Wonju Ladies Singers) with Maestro Nam Gyu Jung
